AENGUS KELLY, CEO OF AERCAP, SPEAKS TO CNBC'S ‘SQUAWK BOX’ EUROPE

On August 1, 2024, to coincide with AerCap’s Q2 Financial Results announcement, Aengus Kelly, CEO of AerCap, spoke to CNBC Squawk Box Europe. During the interview, he spoke about AerCap’s strong financial results for the second quarter of 2024, including raising full year guidance from $9.20 to $10.25 on the back of very strong operating cash flow of $1.4 billion dollars, as well as the company’s recent ratings upgrades to BBB+ by S&P Global and Baa1 by Moody's. Aengus spoke about the strong market for aircraft leasing and the organic growth we are seeing that is underpinned by our announcement that AerCap has entered into an agreement with Airbus to purchase 36 A320neo Family aircraft, to be leased to Spirit Airlines, taking our commitment to the program to over 600 units, cementing our position as the biggest of the program in the world.

Aengus Kelly joined CNBC’s airline industry reporter, Phil LeBeau, in studio on ‘Squawk Box’. The interview took place ahead of the company’s Capital Market Day event in New York on May 8, 2024. During the interview, they discussed the three announcements made by AerCap including, its first quarterly cash dividend, a new share repurchase authorization program and an order for 150 new CFM LEAP engines valued at approximately $3 billion. They also spoke about the importance of engines in the overall commercial aviation market, as well as the challenges facing Boeing and Airbus and the knock-on impact of the tighter-than-expected supply of new planes on airlines.
